Thrifting in Minnesota

I went home recently to visit family - celebrated Mother's Day, some birthdays, and graduation all at the same time! There was a day when everyone else was away and busy, so I went around to some thrift stores and found a few fun items. I found the Fisher Price cash register and the vintage Care Bear Cousin - Cozy Heart Penguin, at the same shop and was quite pleased! Cozy Heart looks like new, so at first I was a little worried that it was an anniversary reproduction release. It had an old tag though so that gave me hope. Once I got home I compared it with my personal anniversary release Funshine and found the tags were quite different! Thank goodness, it is vintage! Yeah! I took some pictures of the tags for comparison and will write up a post to compare at a later date. :)

I later found a little Pound Puppy and a Sweet Kisses My Little Pony named Ruby Lips. "Red-lipstick" appears when you brush her lips with cold water - and disappears if you give her a kiss. I remember this kind temperature change gimmick being very common with toys in the 80s and 90s. I wonder if they still use this trick with new toys.

If you would like to see what other people found last week on their thrifting adventures check out Apron Thrift Girl's Thrift Share Monday!

If you have a moment, please also stop by my Etsy shop - it is full of fun vintage toys, games, and children's books! Manatees Toy Box on Etsy
